Samsung and Elon Musk join forces again for powerful 4th-Gen Neuralink chip

Elon Musk Neura-link is already working on its fourth generation brain chip, with Samsung expected to play a key role in its production.

The new chip is designed to allow two way communication between the brain and computers, which means it will not only read brain signals but may also send signals back to the brain.

Samsung could become the main manufacturer of the chip using its 4nm production process. The choice of a more mature technology node is believed to be linked to better stability and reliable output.

This move also shows growing cooperation between Musk companies and Samsung, especially after earlier deals on self-driving and AI chips.

The production timeline indicates that Samsung may produce test chips in the first half of 2027, while full-scale manufacturing could begin by the end of 2027.

The earlier third generation Neura-link chips were made with help from TSMC, but this new shift suggests Samsung may take over future production.

The fourth generation chip is expected to go beyond earlier versions by enabling signals to be sent from devices back to the brain. This could open the door to advanced medical uses, such as helping restore vision by stimulating brain activity.

The change in partnership also comes as global chip demand rises sharply, especially due to AI growth. TSMC has been facing heavy pressure from large orders, which has created supply delays. This situation has opened opportunities for Samsung to attract more advanced chip projects.

Samsung is also working to improve its foundry business and aims to become profitable in the coming years, and this partnership could support that goal.
