ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has called for stronger cultural ties between Pakistan and African countries.
Speaking at an Africa Day event in Islamabad, he proposed the creation of a joint Pakistan-Africa cultural forum to promote cultural understanding and people to people connections.
The event brought together African ambassadors and high commissioners. During his speech, Tarar said Pakistan wants to increase cooperation in culture, music, and traditions. He suggested organizing joint cultural activities that would allow people from both sides to learn more about each other’s heritage.
The minister also proposed greater exchanges of musical groups between Pakistan and African countries. He said African music and traditions have remained strong for generations and offer valuable learning opportunities.
He added that Pakistan is are interested in learning more about African culture, music, and the traditions of communities across the continent. Tarar described Africa Day as a celebration of diversity, culture, and shared values.
He said the occasion reflects the strength and determination of African nations as they continue to move forward and overcome challenges.
Speaking about the year of water sustainability, the minister said water plays an important role in Pakistan’s history and identity. He noted that the country roots are closely connected to the ancient Indus Valley Civilization and the Indus River.
The minister said Africa Day is not only important for African countries but also holds significance for Pakistan. He explained that Pakistan and many African nations share similar historical experiences because both emerged from colonial rule and worked toward independence and development.
Tarar also praised Africa’s natural beauty and diversity. He highlighted its deserts, grasslands, rainforests, wildlife, and rich cultural heritage. He said these features make Africa one of the most unique regions in the world.
Discussing Pakistan foreign policy, Tarar said the country “Engage Africa” strategy focuses on building stronger political, economic, and cultural relations with African nations. He added that Pakistan sees Africa as an important partner for future cooperation and development.
The minister said Pakistan has expanded its diplomatic presence across the continent and continues to work with African countries in trade, education, health, training, and defence. He stressed that these partnerships aim to create mutual benefits and shared growth.
Tarar also praised Africa’s achievements in sports, culture, climate action, and innovation. He said African athletes continue to inspire people around the world with their performances and dedication.
He described modern Africa as a continent full of energy, opportunity, and ambition. He pointed to the region young population, growing economies, and increasing use of technology as signs of a bright future.
Tarar reaffirmed Pakistan commitment to strengthening friendship and cooperation with African countries. He expressed hope for closer cultural exchanges and stronger partnerships in the years ahead.
