Managing Director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), Tariq Ali Nizamani, said the comprehensive planning and effective strategy implemented for the Eid-ul-Adha cleanliness operation have delivered encouraging results, while the complaint management system played a key role in resolving public concerns and ensuring the success of the campaign.

Speaking to the media, he said that more than 164,000 tonnes of animal waste, garbage and sacrificial remains had been collected and transported to landfill sites and the GTS Sharafi facility during the Eid operation. He added that cleanup activities were continuing across the city and would remain underway until the last animal remains were removed from Karachi.

Nizamani said that over 90 percent of public complaints received during the operation had been addressed. To facilitate citizens, the SSWMB helpline 1128 remained active round the clock with additional staff, while board personnel were also deployed at the Rescue 1129 Control Room established at the Commissioner Karachi Office.

The SSWMB headquarters also remained operational to register, monitor and promptly resolve complaints from across the city.

He said the coordinated efforts of complaint centers, field teams, monitoring staff and sanitation workers played an important role in maintaining cleanliness throughout the Eid holidays.

“We are delivering on the commitments we made to citizens,” Nizamani said, adding that the success of the operation was the result of effective planning and strong public cooperation.

He reaffirmed the board’s commitment to completing the Eid-ul-Adha cleanup operation successfully and continuing efforts to keep Karachi clean.
