Donald Trump says Iran talks are ongoing by phone

US President Donald Trump said that ongoing talks with Iran are now being conducted by phone.

Trump told reporters at the White House that we’re having talks with them now, and we’re not flying anymore with 18-hour flights every time we want to see a piece of paper. We’re doing it telephonically.

Donald Trump claimed that 82% of Iran’s missiles have been destroyed and 159 naval vessels have been sunk, adding that the Iranian currency has lost all its value.

He also said that he held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Iran and Ukraine. Trump stated that he told Putin the United States would not help end other wars unless Russia first stops its own conflict.

Trump said that, Putin also expressed concern over Iran’s uranium enrichment activities.

Notably, Iran and the United States held talks in Islamabad on April 11 but could not reach any agreement to end the ongoing war that started on February 28. These talks came after Pakistan helped arrange a two-week ceasefire on April 8, which was later extended by Donald Trump.

He also canceled a planned visit to Islamabad by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Trump said any deal with Iran would only be possible if Iran completely gives up its nuclear weapons ambitions.
