Pakistan shared a list of 257 Indian prisoners lodged in Pakistani jails.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and India have exchanged lists of their nuclear installations and facilities, in line with a long-standing bilateral agreement the Foreign Office said on Thursday.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andarabi, while briefing the media during the weekly press briefing, said that at the start of the New Year, Pakistan and India also exchanged lists of prisoners.
Pakistan shared a list of 257 Indian prisoners lodged in Pakistani jails, while the Indian Ministry of External Affairs provided India’s list to a representative of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi.
The spokesperson said that the exchange of lists of nuclear installations takes place annually on January 1, and both countries duly handed over the updated lists to each other.
According to diplomatic sources, Pakistan and India signed the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attacks against Nuclear Installations and Facilities on December 31, 1988. Under the agreement, the two countries are required to exchange the lists of their nuclear facilities every year on January 1.
Commenting on regional and international issues, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan welcomes regional efforts to normalize the situation in Yemen and supports a peaceful resolution of the Yemeni conflict. He reiterated Pakistan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
He further stated that Pakistan categorically rejects Israel’s move to recognize Somaliland as an independent state, reaffirming Islamabad’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
