    Sindh announces 12% salary hike, 8% pension increase

    In a sigh of relief for public servants, the Sindh government on Friday announced a 12% ad hoc relief in salaries for grade 1 to 16 employees and 10% for those in grades 17 to 22.

    Presenting the Sindh budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the provincial assembly, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who also holds the portfolio of finance, said the pension of the retired provincial employees will also increase by 8%.

    It is pertinent to mention here that the federal government had increased the salaries of federal employees from grade 1 to 22 by 10% in FY26. The Center also proposed a 7% pension raise.

    Addressing the budget session, the chief minister said that the conveyance allowance of differently abled employees had also been increased in the budget.  

    Terming it a “comprehensive budget”, CM Shah said that special grants will also be provided for welfare and development programmes.

    “Budget will play an important role in utilising the untapped potential of Sindh,” he added.

    While unveiling the annual budget in the assembly, the CM presented the Annual Development Program (ADP) for the upcoming fiscal year with a total outlay of Rs1,018 billion.

    He said that the Provincial ADP is set at Rs520 billion, complemented by District ADP, Foreign Project Assistance (FPA), and Federal PSDP grants. “This ambitious development plan focuses on rehabilitation, infrastructure, social services, and sustainable growth across the province, he added. 

    The chief minister said that Rs102.8 billion were allocated for education, Rs45.4 billion for health, Rs84 billion for irrigation and Rs132 billion for local government.
