    • Operations to continue until elimination of terrorism: sources.

Security forces have killed more than nine terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in parts of Balochistan, security sources said on Tuesday.

According to the security sources, the operations were conducted in Ziarat, Harnai and Surab districts under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3.

The security sources said that a major IBO was carried out in the mountainous area between Ziarat and Harnai following a tip-off.

The terrorists’ hideout was surrounded during the operation, resulting in the killing of eight terrorists, while the hideout was also destroyed, they added.

In another operation in Hajika village in Soorab district, security forces killed one terrorist, according to security sources.

The operations were conducted after security forces traced terrorist movement between Dasht Katai and Hajika areas, sources said.

According to the security sources, ammunition, magazines, hand grenades, walkie-talkies, a motorcycle and other equipment were recovered from the killed terrorists.

The security sources said that operations will continue without interruption until the complete elimination of terrorism and establishment of lasting peace.

The operations come a day after security forces killed two terrorists and injured three others during an IBO in Balochistan’s Killi Zaik area.

A day before that, security forces killed seven India-backed terrorists in an IBO in Kharan district.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its KP and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces remained the country’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026, with KP emerging as the worst-affected region.

The report stated that KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded during the quarter. Of the total deaths, more than 61% (475) were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 34% (265).

KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, representing 57% of the nationwide total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, or 35%, underscoring the concentration of militant activity in the two provinces.
