Smokey Robinson breaks silence over sexual abuse allegations

Smokey Robinson just spoke out after he was accused of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit filed by four of his former employees on May 6.

As Daily Mail contacted the accused record producer on May 7, via a phone call, he addressed the claims made against him in a rather short statement.

“I am appalled,” Robinson said, adding, “I can’t speak about this right now.”

The former front man of Miracles has been currently accused of false imprisonment, assault, rape and gender violence, in general creating a hostile work environment for four Jane Does who worked for him and his wife, Frances, over a span of almost 20 years.

In the complaint, the Jane Does have alleged that the Baby Come Close singer, “repeatedly forced his fingers and penis into their vaginas, causing severe and excruciating pain” without consent, using “physical barriers, force, threats of force” against the women.

His wife, France is also named in the lawsuit as the Jane Does claim she had “full knowledge of his prior acts of sexual misconduct” and “failed to take the appropriate corrective action” to prevent his “deviant misconduct.”

For the unversed, Jane Doe 1, who started working for Robinson since January 2023, alleged she was assaulted at least seven times by the musician before she resigned in February 2024.

Jane Doe 2, who worked for the accused from May 2014 to February 2020, stated she was assaulted at least 23 times, claiming that the Just To See Her hitmaker allegedly “raped” her and forced her to “perform oral sex on his erect penis.”

Jane Doe 3, claimed that from the time span of February 2012 to April 2024 as a housekeeper, Robinson “raped” her “at least 20 times.”

While, Jane Doe 4, who worked from October 2006 to April 2024, as Frances’s personal assistant, cook and hairdresser, alleged in her complaint that the Cruisin’ musician “forced her into his bedroom and raped her” in 2007, and that such encounters “continued” before she quit.

All four of the Jane Does are now seeking damages of at least $50 million from Smokey Robinson.
