Victoria Justice has a newfound appreciation for life as her mother, Serene Reed, recovers from a “serious health scare.”
In an emotional Instagram statement published on Tuesday, August 1, the Victorious star opened up about “one of the most terrifying experiences of [her] life” this past month, one that “rocks you to your core and puts everything into perspective.”
Justice explained, “Without getting too personal, my mom had a serious health scare that shook our entire family. It’s been a scary and emotional few weeks, and while we’re not totally out of the woods yet, she’s getting better and better every day. I’m praying for and confident in her full recovery. She’s one strong lady.”
The 33-year-old continued, “It always sounds cliche until life reminds you just how true it is, but tomorrow really isn’t promised. You never know what could happen to you or the ones you love. Tell them you love them as much as possible and make the most of the time you have together.”
In accompanying photographs, Justice could be seen embracing her mother as she lay in a hospital bed. More pictures showed the singer in the studio, riding the carousel, and watching Chappell Roan perform at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival which took place over the weekend.
“Grateful to be writing music & for all the friends and family who have been so supportive though all of this,” Justice added in the caption. “So yeah… made it through August. Here’s to September and all the good I know it has in store.”
