Britain is working with allied countries to restore maritime traffic and stabilize energy supplies, Starmer

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that the United Kingdom will not take part in any war against Iran, emphasizing that his government is working to prevent the conflict in the Middle East from escalating further.

Speaking at a press conference, Starmer said the ongoing tensions have already caused oil and gas prices to rise. He noted that Britain is working with allied countries to restore maritime traffic and stabilize energy supplies.

However, he acknowledged that reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz is not a simple task.

The prime minister added that once the war ends, some form of agreement with Iran will likely be necessary to help bring long-term stability to the region. He said diplomatic efforts are continuing to find a quick and effective resolution to the crisis.

Starmer also announced that the UK government plans to introduce a temporary policy within the next three weeks to fix oil prices for three months to provide relief to the public. He stressed that oil companies will not be allowed to exploit the war situation to make excessive profits.

The British leader further revealed that he will soon meet Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during ongoing diplomatic engagements.

He also warned that the conflict should not become an opportunity for Vladimir Putin of Russia. According to Starmer, the only lasting solution to rising oil transportation costs and global energy instability is bringing the war to an end.
