Rawalpindi: In Bannu, an attack by Fitna-al-Khawarij on a security forces convoy led to the martyrdom of a Pakistan Army Lieutenant Colonel and a soldier.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) that security forces had received intelligence about a suicide bomber vehicle and launched an operation in the area based on this information.

During the operation, militants targeted the convoy by ramming an explosives-laden vehicle into one of the security forces’ vehicles, resulting in the deaths of Lieutenant Colonel Shehzad Gulfraz and Sepoy Karamat Shah. Five militants were also killed in the ensuing operation.

The ISPR highlighted that even during the holy month of Ramadan, militants continue to carry out terrorist attacks from Afghan territory into Pakistan, showing complete disregard for Islamic teachings.

The statement also criticized the Taliban government for failing to prevent Afghan soil from being used for cross-border terrorism.

ISPR emphasized, will continue its counter-terrorism operations under the “Azm-e-Istehkam”  initiative with full force. The sacrifices of the country’s brave soldiers further reinforce Pakistan’s steadfast resolve to combat militancy.
