The summer season brings longer days and plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities, but rising temperatures can also take a toll on your health and energy levels.

Excessive heat may lead to dehydration, fatigue, heat exhaustion, and other health concerns if proper precautions are not taken. Adopting a few simple lifestyle habits can help you stay comfortable and active throughout the season.

Here are some practical tips to help you stay cool, healthy, and energized during the hot summer months.

Drinking enough water is one of the most important ways to protect yourself from the effects of heat. Carry a water bottle with you and sip water regularly throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty. Fresh coconut water, lemon water, and homemade fruit-infused drinks can also help maintain hydration.

Heavy meals can make you feel sluggish during hot weather. Have lighter foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, yogurt, salads, and whole grains. Water-rich fruits like watermelon, oranges, cucumbers, and strawberries can help keep your body cool and hydrated.

Wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing made from breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen. Light-colored clothes reflect sunlight and help maintain a comfortable body temperature.

Try to limit outdoor activities between late morning and early afternoon when the sun is at its strongest. If you need to be outside, seek shade whenever possible and take regular breaks.

Apply sunscreen with an appropriate SPF before going outdoors and reapply it as directed. Wearing sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat can provide additional protection from harmful UV rays.

Hot weather can disrupt sleep patterns and leave you feeling tired. Keep your bedroom cool and maintain a consistent sleep schedule to support your energy levels and overall well-being.

Exercise during the cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or evening. Activities like walking, yoga, or swimming can help you stay fit without exposing yourself to excessive heat.
