Tom Jones had an amazing music career but he has also faced some very hard times.
The 86-year-old singer is now leaving The Voice after many years on the show.
But years before that, Tom went through another difficult time in his career.
In the late 1970s and early 1980s, his music was not doing as well as before. He was doing many live shows just to keep working and making money.
Tom then got a chance to host a new TV show in America as he hoped it could help him, but things did not go as planned.
Looking back, Tom admitted he knew the show was a risky move, calling it “one last desperate shake of the dice.”
The show also had big stars such as Tina Turner and Gladys Knight. But Tom was not happy with how the show was made.
He said, “This is not what I envisaged,” and added, “This is not the way I saw it going.”
Thankfully, the music icon’s career later changed for the better as he returned to the music charts in 1987 and found success again.
He later joined The Voice and became a much loved coach.
Now, after leaving the show, fans are waiting to see what Tom does next.
