    T20 World Cup 2026 ends with record-breaking statistics

    The T20 World Cup 2026 concluded with a series of remarkable records and impressive statistics, marking one of the most competitive editions of the tournament.

    In the final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India successfully defended their title by defeating New Zealand in a thrilling contest.

    For the first time in the tournament’s history, 20 teams participated in the event, with a total of 55 matches played throughout the competition.

    During the tournament, batters collectively scored 17,582 runs, including 7 centuries and 86 half-centuries. Notably, 3,270 runs were scored in the final three overs of innings, highlighting the aggressive nature of T20 cricket.

    The first powerplay alone produced 5,411 runs, while 101 runs came from free-hit deliveries.

    A total of 780 sixes and 1,434 fours were struck in the tournament, contributing 10,416 runs through boundaries. Among these, 5,736 runs came from fours and 4,680 runs from sixes.

    Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan emerged as the top run-scorer of the tournament with 383 runs, including two centuries. He also became the first batter in T20 World Cup history to score two centuries in a single edition.

    The highest individual score of the tournament was recorded by Canada’s Yuvraj Samra, who smashed 110 runs against New Zealand.

    In total, 95 batters were dismissed for ducks during the competition.

    From a bowling perspective, 12,059 deliveries were bowled in the tournament, including 46 no-balls and 429 wides. Teams used fast bowlers for 53% of deliveries, while spinners accounted for 47%.

    Bowlers delivered 14 maiden overs and claimed a combined 699 wickets throughout the tournament.

    India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy finished as the leading wicket-takers, with 14 wickets each.

    The best bowling performance in a single innings came from West Indies’ Romario Shepherd, who took 5 wickets for 20 runs against Scotland.

    In the field, players completed 485 catches, while 110 chances were dropped. Additionally, 123 batters were bowled, 32 dismissed lbw, 39 run out, and 20 out through other modes of dismissal during the tournament.
