After the incident, an emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Swiss International said that a flight from Delhi to Zurich had to abort its takeoff early on Sunday after an engine issue, adding that four passengers and one crew member were injured.

The airline did not share full details, but reports suggested that one of the engines caught fire while the aircraft was speeding on the runway, and the injuries happened during the emergency evacuation.

According to the airline, the issue occurred shortly after 1am local time on April 26 during the takeoff of flight LX147. The crew immediately aborted the takeoff and decided to evacuate the plane as a safety measure after reviewing the situation.

The airline said a special team has been formed to investigate the incident. The injured passengers were taken to the hospital, while one crew member suffered a minor ankle injury.

Earlier, the airline had said six passengers were injured but later updated the number. There were 228 passengers, four infants, and 13 crew members on board the aircraft, which was an Airbus A330.

After the incident, an emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport, but runway operations were later restored, according to sources.
