KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said work on the Red Line BRT project is continuing day and night. He said University Road will be opened for traffic by the end of July.

He admitted that people faced some problems because of the construction work. He said the government had to make difficult decisions to complete the project. He also apologized to citizens for the temporary inconvenience. Sharjeel Inam Memon said Karachi’s motor-way planning was not ideal. He explained that the motor-way should have started from Karachi, but the planning was done differently.

He also said Karachi is located in the southern part of Pakistan and faces a water shortage of about 20 percent. The minister said the opening of the Bhutto Highway has helped many people. According to him, travel time has reduced for commuters. He added that police, ambulance, and rescue teams are available on the highway to help people in emergencies.

Sharjeel Inam Memon said Karachi has more health facilities than any other city in Pakistan. Because of this, many patients from different parts of the country come to the city for free medical treatment.

He also highlighted the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences. He said patients there receive free and quality healthcare services. The minister said the Sindh government has improved roads across the province using its own funds. He added that development work is still continuing in many areas.

He further said that a large housing project is underway in Sindh. The project aims to provide homes for 2.1 million low income people. Sharjeel Inam Memon also said the Sindh government invested one billion dollars in Thar coal projects. He said the investment is helping produce low-cost electricity and benefiting people across the country.
