At least seven people were killed and three others injured in two separate roadside bomb blasts in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, according to police reports.

The incident happened in the Barghanto area of the mountainous Wazir subdivision in Bannu.

Police said the first explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) placed on the roadside. It targeted a passenger Datsun van that was carrying members of a local peace committee. The blast was very powerful and completely destroyed the vehicle. As a result, five people died instantly at the scene, while several others were injured.

The people who lost their lives were identified as Haji Ghaffar Din, Saqib Iqbal, Chhota Aziz, Rahmatullah, and Allah Noor. All of them belonged to the Hathi Khel tribe.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi, rescue teams and local residents quickly reached the location after the first explosion. They began helping the injured and shifting them to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

However, while rescue work was still going on, a second roadside bomb exploded near the vehicle that was carrying the injured people and the bodies of the deceased. This second blast killed two more people and injured three additional individuals.
