QUETTA:  Security forces killed 11 militants in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, according to the reports.

The operations were carried out in Bannu and South Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Sasool area of Khuzdar district in Balochistan. The operations targeted militants identified by the sources as belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.

Security forces also destroyed the militants hideout with explosive material during the operation. Weapons and ammunition were recovered during the Bannu operation. In Ladha, an area of South Waziristan, security forces launched another intelligence-based operation after receiving a tip about militant activity.

The reported breakdown was two militants killed in Bannu, five in Ladha, South Waziristan, and four in Sasool, Khuzdar. Security forces would continue operations under the government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision until the threat of terrorism was eliminated, the security sources concluded.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to security forces for a successful operation against terrorists in Bannu district. He praised the security forces for killing 11 terrorists during the operation. “The entire nation stood with the security forces in the war against terrorism,” he said.

The militants were targeted with assistance from quadcopters. Security reports said all necessary measures were taken during the operations to protect the lives and property of the public. They also said steps were taken to prevent harm to the local population.

The operations were conducted following intelligence inputs in the three areas. Security forces detected militant movements and carried out targeted actions against the groups.
