KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a mixed but overall positive trend during the outgoing week, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index posting a net gain of 690 points.

The index closed at 185,098 points, rising from 184,409 points recorded at the start of the week. During the period, the market successfully regained one key psychological level, reflecting improved investor sentiment.

Trading activity remained volatile, as the market experienced three bearish sessions and two bullish sessions throughout the week.

During the five-day trading period, the KSE-100 Index touched a weekly high of 185,208 points, while the lowest level of 180,783 points was recorded earlier in the week.

Market capitalization increased by Rs206 billion, reaching Rs20,974 billion by the end of the week.

According to market experts, the PSX remained under pressure for most of the week due to profit-taking activity by investors.

However, sentiment improved on the final trading day following reports that the United States would not launch an attack on Iran, which triggered fresh buying interest.

Analysts added that value buying in low-priced shares and expectations of a possible cut in the policy rate further supported the late-week rally.
