Priyanka Chopra Jonas may have just handed couples the simplest relationship advice ever — and it doesn’t involve grand gestures, expensive gifts or a Hollywood-sized budget.
The Citadel star opened up about her marriage to Nick Jonas while attending the New York City premiere of The Cycle of Love on Thursday, August 20.
Priyanka executive produced the documentary, which follows Delhi street artist PK Mahanandia’s incredible 6,000-mile bicycle journey to reunite with the woman he loved, Charlotte Von Schedvin.
The real-life love story clearly struck a chord with Priyanka.
“Now they’ve been married for 50 years, and their kids are producing this movie with me,” Priyanka told E!.
“Everything about it is so heartwarming, and just makes me feel like, in this crazy world right now, it’s this ray of sunshine.”
But when the conversation turned to her own nearly eight-year marriage, Priyanka revealed that respect for each other’s backgrounds is a major part of keeping their relationship strong.
“I don’t know if I’d love him if he didn’t,” the actress said of Nick embracing Indian culture and traditions.
“That is a big part of any story or any relationship that is multicultural. I think it’s really important to have a sense of respect for your partner’s roots.”
Nick has also embraced Priyanka’s Indian heritage while helping their 4-year-old daughter, Malti, stay connected to it through Hindu holidays and family traditions.
And when asked for the real secret to keeping the love alive, Priyanka kept it refreshingly simple: “being kind to your partner. That’s something that’s really important.”
Honestly, relationship advice doesn’t get much easier than that.
