Islamabad: The President of Pakistan has approved the National Institute of Health (Reorganization) Amendment Bill 2025, marking a significant step toward reform in the country’s healthcare sector.

The bill was passed by the National Assembly on August 12, 2025, along with five other private members’ bills. The primary objective of the amendment is to enhance the structure and governance of the National Institute of Health (NIH), ensuring improved institutional performance and organizational efficiency.

Officials stated that the bill aims to reorganize the NIH to make it more responsive, effective, and aligned with modern healthcare needs. This development is being hailed as a key milestone in institutional reforms and a progressive move toward strengthening Pakistan’s health sector.
