WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said that his participation in the G7 summit was “extremely successful” and claimed he had productive discussions with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine on the sidelines of the meeting.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had helped stop multiple conflicts and would continue efforts to end wars worldwide. “I stopped eight wars, and I will stop more wars,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the Russia-Ukraine war would come to an end soon, saying he had held “good talks” with both sides.

On Iran, Trump said any agreement with Tehran would serve as a strong barrier against nuclear weapons development. He added that Iran would not be allowed to develop nuclear arms and said the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened immediately under a settlement.

The US president claimed that oil prices would soon return to previous levels and said the American economy was experiencing record growth across all sectors.

Trump further said Iran was “very eager” to reach a final agreement and suggested that Tehran might comply with a memorandum of understanding, warning of renewed military action if it did not.

He also claimed that the United States had “fully defeated Iran,” though he did not provide details or evidence for the statement.

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance said in an interview with CBS News that the text of a U.S.-Iran agreement is expected to be released by Friday, as the White House works to publish it before that deadline.

Vance said the administration is attempting to make the agreement public sooner, while alleging that misinformation is being spread regarding the memorandum of understanding.

He said Qatari and Pakistani officials had requested a delay in the immediate release of the text, while mediators are being urged to publish it as soon as possible so the American public can understand what he described as a “historic agreement.”

Vance said that if Iran halts its nuclear program, it would be reintegrated into the global economy, adding that any benefits would include relief from sanctions on its economy.

He said the return of frozen Iranian assets and other incentives would be conditional on changes in behavior.

Vance predicted that oil prices would fall in the coming weeks, calling recent increases temporary and acknowledging economic pressures faced by Americans.
