Pakistanis may soon get some relief as the government is expected to reduce petroleum prices by up to Rs11 per litre within the next four days. If approved, the price cut could ease pressure on consumers who are already dealing with high inflation.

Reports say the new fuel prices are likely to come into effect from December 16, and initial calculations have already been completed by the relevant authorities. Sources add that the federal government is currently reviewing a proposal that suggests different price reductions for all major petroleum products.

According to early estimates, the price of petrol may drop by 36 paisas per litre, while high-speed diesel could see a major cut of Rs11.85 per litre, which would be the largest reduction among all fuels. Kerosene oil prices are expected to fall by Rs11.70 per litre, and light diesel may become cheaper by Rs10.01 per litre.

Officials have confirmed that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority will send the final price summary to the government on December 15. After approval by the prime minister, the Petroleum Division will issue an official notification announcing the new prices.

If the proposed reduction is approved, the price of petrol will be Rs263.09 per litre, high-speed diesel will cost Rs267.80 per litre, kerosene oil will be priced at Rs181.16 per litre, and light diesel is expected to be available at Rs153.76 per litre.
