Perez Hilton’s family is asking for privacy as the celebrity blogger remains hospitalized following a serious mental health crisis.
In a statement shared Saturday, August 8, on PerezHilton.com, his family said Hilton’s condition is “serious but stable” after he was hospitalised in Florida earlier this week.
“There are many false and inaccurate reports circulating in the media regarding Perez and the circumstances surrounding this situation.”
The family confirmed that Hilton remains hospitalised under Florida’s Baker Act, which permits a temporary mental health evaluation in certain circumstances.
“His communication has been extremely limited and confined to immediate family, medical providers and others directly involved in his care. He has not communicated with the media or issued any public statements,” his loved ones said.
“The only statements regarding Perez that should be considered credible and authorized are those published directly on PerezHilton.com.”
Authorities were called to Hilton’s Miami home on August 4 following a reported suicide attempt, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
“Perez’s condition remains serious but stable,” his family said. “He experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.”
They added that his recovery “will be a long process” and said they were grateful he was able to spend time with his mother and sister.
The family also strongly urged media and photographers to stay away from the home and respect Hilton’s children, Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8.
“Perez’s children remain safe and are being cared for by immediate family,” they said.
The family highlighted that PerezHilton.com has maintained a “no kids policy” for more than a decade and asked others to extend the same consideration to his children.
“Please allow them and the rest of the family the peace and privacy they desperately need during this incredibly difficult time.”
