WELLINGTON: New Zealand won the toss and put Pakistan to bat first in the final T20I of the five-match series, being played at the Sky Stadium in Wellington on Wednesday.
Pakistan were 128-9 against New Zealand at the end of the first innings.
During the first few overs of the first innings, Black Caps’ Jacob Duffy provided the first breakthrough by dismissing Hasan Nawaz for no runs at three balls for the Green Shirts, with a magnificent catch by James Neesham.
This was followed by the dismissal of the top order’s Mohammad Haris 11 (17) in the fifth over and Omai Yousuf 7 (11). During the seventh over, Usman Khan 7 (7) was also taken down.
Today’s match is a dead rubber as the hosts have already bagged an unassailable 3-1 lead, routing the Men in Green for just 105 in the fourth T20I at Mount Maunganui on Sunday.
Kiwis registered the massive victory as the visitors failed to chase the daunting 221-run target, a much-needed feat to stay alive in the series, and were bowled out for just 105 in the 17th over.
