    Pakistan, World Liberty Financial sign MoU to advance digital finance

    ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and World Liberty Financial have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering innovation in the digital payments sector and strengthening the country’s digital financial ecosystem.

    The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, along with other senior government officials.

    Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also held a meeting with a delegation of World Liberty Financial USA, led by its Chief Executive Officer Zachary Witkoff.

    During the meeting, the prime minister briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan vision, emphasizing that digital connectivity, transparency, and public access are among the government’s top priorities. He noted that digital payments and financial innovation are key pillars of the digital economy.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the growing global interest in Pakistan’s digital financial markets is encouraging, adding that Pakistan is steadily becoming part of the global digital finance landscape.

    On the occasion, Zachary Witkoff expressed keen interest in working with Pakistan to develop a secure and transparent digital payments infrastructure, including innovations in cross-border settlements and foreign exchange inflows and outflows.
