ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s armed forces and the nation paid tribute to Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider recipient, on his 78th martyrdom anniversary, remembering his extraordinary courage, leadership and ultimate sacrifice during the First Kashmir war.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and other officials honored Captain Sarwar Shaheed for his bravery, dedication and commitment to defending the country.
Captain Muhammad Sarwar was born on Nov. 10, 1910, in Singhori village of present day Rawalpindi District. He joined the military and dedicated his life to protecting Pakistan’s national interests.
He displayed exceptional courage during the Battle of Tilpatra in Azad Kashmir on July 27, 1948, while fighting in the First Kashmir War. Facing heavy enemy fire, Captain Sarwar led his troops from the front and demonstrated strong leadership, determination and military skill.
During the battle, he moved forward despite intense resistance to establish contact with his forces and strengthen their position against the enemy.
Captain Sarwar Shaheed became the first Pakistani soldier to receive the Nishan-e-Haider, setting an example of courage and devotion that continues to inspire generations of military personnel and citizens.
The armed forces described his sacrifice as a lasting symbol of patriotism, resilience and commitment to the nation. Officials said his actions remain a source of motivation for soldiers serving Pakistan and for future generations.
