OpenAI announced that developers can now submit their apps for review and possible release inside ChatGPT. The company has also added a new app directory to ChatGPT’s tools menu, which many are calling an “app store.”
Back in October, OpenAI shared plans to bring apps into ChatGPT to expand what the platform can do. Big companies like Expedia, Spotify, Zillow and Canva were among the first to announce integrations, allowing users to use their services directly within ChatGPT chats. Now, OpenAI is opening this opportunity to more developers.
According to OpenAI, apps improve ChatGPT conversations by adding extra information and allowing actions such as ordering groceries, turning outlines into presentations, or searching for apartments.

OpenAI’s Apps SDK, which is still in beta, currently offers tools to help developers build new experiences for ChatGPT users.
When their apps are ready, developers can submit them through the OpenAI Developer platform and monitor the approval process.
The company said several approved apps are expected to launch inside ChatGPT over the coming year.
With this move, OpenAI aims to expand ChatGPT’s app ecosystem and give users more reasons to use and stay on the platform.
