ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s households will pay more for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Aug. 1 after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) increased prices by Rs12.89 per kilogram, raising domestic cylinder costs by Rs152.01 for August 2026, according to an official notification issued Friday.
OGRA set the new consumer price of LPG at Rs254,315.35 per tonne for August, compared with Rs241,432.84 per tonne in July. The price of an 11.8 kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has increased to Rs3,000.92 from Rs2,848.91 last month.
The revised prices will remain effective throughout August and are expected to increase financial pressure on consumers who rely on LPG for cooking and household energy needs.
The regulatory authority also raised the producer price of LPG. The new producer rate has been fixed at Rs213,015.35 per tonne, up from Rs200,132.84 per tonne in July. The price of an 11.8kg cylinder at the producer level also increased by Rs152.01, reaching Rs2,513.58.
Alongside the LPG price hike, OGRA announced a significant increase in Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) prices for July 2026, affecting transmission and distribution rates for the country’s major gas companies.
For Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the RLNG transmission price increased by 32.12% to $23.7020 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), compared with $17.9394 per MMBtu in June. The company’s distribution price also climbed 32.35% to $25.8388 per MMBtu from $19.5228.
Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) also recorded a sharp increase in RLNG rates. Its transmission price rose 35.78% to $22.2251 per MMBtu, while the distribution price increased 34.62% to $25.0872 per MMBtu.
The latest increases come as Pakistan continues to manage challenges in the energy sector, including rising fuel costs, supply pressures and efforts to maintain stable energy markets. Higher LPG and RLNG prices could affect domestic consumers, industries and businesses by increasing overall energy expenses.
Energy experts say continued price adjustments highlight the impact of global energy trends, currency fluctuations and domestic supply conditions on Pakistan’s fuel pricing system. Consumers are now expected to adjust household budgets as the new LPG rates take effect from August.
