In basketball, triumph often rises from adversity. Nights like these define legends, celebrate comebacks, and showcase the unyielding spirit of the game.

Ousmane Dieng delivered a dominant, all-around performance as the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 110–93 on Thursday night, closing out the final game before the NBA All-Star break in style.

Facing the team that originally drafted him, Dieng controlled the floor, posting 19 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and four blocks in 36 minutes at the Paycom Center.

His versatility and leadership fueled Milwaukee’s fifth win in six games, lifting their season record to 23–30 despite the absence of 10-time All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks’ offense was balanced and relentless, with seven other players scoring in double digits. AJ Green added 17 points, including five three-pointers, helping Milwaukee maintain control throughout the game.

For the Thunder, Isaiah Joe led with 17 points, knocking down four shots from beyond the arc, while Chet Holmgren posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Despite their efforts, Oklahoma City, now 42–14 on the season, was unable to match Milwaukee’s pace and precision.

The game also marked a heartwarming milestone for rookie Nikola Topic, who made his long-awaited NBA debut after an inspiring battle with testicular cancer and previous knee injuries. The 12th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft had yet to appear in a regular-season game due to these setbacks.

Topic entered the arena to a standing ovation, scoring his first NBA points early in the second quarter on a jumper from near the free-throw line, finishing with two points, one rebound, and one assist.

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault praised Topic’s perseverance:

“This was a monumental moment for him. He has overcome more adversity than most experience in a lifetime. For him to step on the court tonight is inspiring not only for his family but for the entire team and our fans.”

Daigneault emphasized that Topic is still progressing toward full game fitness:

“Tonight was about giving him the opportunity to play without pressure. The most important thing is that he’s back on the floor and on the right path.”

Earlier this week, Topic showcased his readiness with the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder’s G League affiliate, scoring seven points and seven assists in 16 minutes during a 137–135 overtime win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

His NBA debut on Thursday is a testament to resilience, dedication, and the human spirit, marking an unforgettable chapter in professional basketball.
