ISLAMABAD: The 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) meeting is scheduled for today, where all four provinces will give ten-minute briefings on their financial situation.

The meeting will be chaired by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb. The four provincial finance ministers and four non-statutory members — Dr Asad Sayeed (Sindh), Mehfooz Ali Khan (Balochistan), Nasir Mehmood Khosa (Punjab) and Dr Musharraf Rasool Cyan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) — are members of the NFC. Chief ministers of Sindh and KP holding the finance portfolio will attend the meeting.

According to an official statement, the provincial finance ministers and private members from each province will attend, while the federal Ministry of Finance will present a briefing on its fiscal position.

The session will also focus on setting the schedule and timeline for deciding the new NFC award. Minister Aurangzeb stated that the meeting will be conducted in the spirit of “Pakistan First,” listening to the provinces and presenting the federal financial stance transparently.

Meanwhile, a preparatory consultative meeting for the NFC was held under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Sohail Afridi.

During the briefing, the CM was informed that, under the NFC, the merged districts are entitled to Rs1,375 billion, which has not been released.
