More rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several other parts of Pakistan on Sunday night and Monday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department says a westerly weather system is affecting the western and upper regions of the country.

Because of this system, rain along with snowfall in mountainous areas is likely in the twin cities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Sunday night. Other parts of the country will remain cold and partly cloudy, while fog or smog is expected to continue in eastern Punjab and upper Sindh.

On Monday, rain and snowfall in the mountains are again expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The rest of the country will likely experience cold and dry weather. Fog and smog are also expected to persist in eastern Punjab and upper Sindh.

Due to snowfall and possible landslides, roads may become slippery or closed in areas including Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch and Haveli. Fog is also expected to become denser in northeastern Punjab.

In Islamabad, the minimum temperature is expected to stay between 6°C and 8°C on Monday, 7°C and 9°C on Tuesday, and 5°C and 7°C on Wednesday. In Rawalpindi, the minimum temperature is likely to remain between 9°C and 11°C on Monday, 10°C and 12°C on Tuesday, and 8°C and 10°C on Wednesday.

During the past 24 hours, rain was recorded in upper and central Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Fog and smog continued in parts of Punjab and upper Sindh, with dense fog affecting northeastern Punjab. Other areas experienced cold and partly cloudy weather.
