Karachi is expected to remain cloudy and humid over the next 24 hours, with chances of drizzle during the morning and evening in parts of the port city, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday.

The Met Office said that the maximum temperature is likely to remain between 33°C and 35°C, while the minimum temperature recorded in the city was 28°C.

According to the department, humidity in the air was recorded at 78%, with sea breeze blowing at a speed of 15 kilometres per hour.

The Met Office has forecast below-normal rainfall over most parts of the country during August 2026, with temperatures expected to remain above normal nationwide.

In its monthly outlook published on July 31, the Met Office said that the forecast was based on outputs from 10 reliable global seasonal prediction models.

The prevailing positive phase of the El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is expected to persist throughout the forecast month, while the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) has also shifted to a positive phase and is likely to remain in that phase during the forecast period, the PMD said.

Based on these analyses, below-normal rainfall is expected over most parts of the country during August, it added.

The strongest negative rainfall anomalies have been projected over northeastern and central Punjab, extending into adjoining parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, as well as southeastern Sindh.

In contrast, different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan may receive near-normal rainfall during the forecast month.

The Met Office said that mean temperatures were expected to remain above normal across the country, with the maximum departure likely over eastern GB and central to northeastern Punjab, extending into adjoining areas of KP and northern Balochistan.
