    • Notices issued as part of inquiry into the alleged online campaign.
    • The four people were asked to appear before the agency on Aug 13.
    • They must bring their original identity cards and relevant documents.

KARACHI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned four people for questioning over an alleged social media campaign linking Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and his son, Rawal Memon, to the alleged murder of young businessman Mir Raza Ali.

Memon approached the NCCIA over what he described as false, fabricated and malicious allegations circulating on social media in connection with Ali’s murder case.

He alleged that the posts and videos were part of a campaign aimed at harassing him and his son and damaging their reputations.

The NCCIA has issued notices to Syed Abdullah, Amin Qureshi, Bilal Warisi, and Ubaid Qureshi, directing them to appear at its Karachi office at 11:30am on August 13.

The notices instruct the four individuals to bring their original identity cards, relevant evidence and documents, as well as records and digital devices they intend to rely on in their defence.

A formal written complaint was submitted to the deputy director of the NCCIA Karachi Zone on August 9, 2026, through Memon’s lawyer, Advocate Syeda Malaika Naqvi, against certain social media accounts.

The complaint accused the accounts of harassing the complainant, creating and disseminating false and malicious content, and damaging the reputation of Memon and his son.

Ali’s body was found in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi, a day after he went missing on July 28.

Various posts, videos and statements against Memon and Rawal began circulating on social media accounts, pages and groups on August 9.

The complaint said the material alleged that a guesthouse in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, where Raza was allegedly tortured and killed, was owned by Memon. It also alleged that Rawal left for London immediately after the incident and subsequently moved around with a bodyguard.

Rawal is currently in London on holiday. He told Geo News: “I am shocked to see the lies linking me and my father with an inhumane act. Those behind the lies must be brought to justice. We do not know the identities of the individuals operating various social media accounts, pages and groups. This is an organised smear campaign.”

The complaint also alleged that the social media content sought to create an impression that the medical board related to the case had been changed “overnight”. It said Memon and his political party had also been accused of protecting those allegedly involved in the incident and obstructing the police investigation.

According to the application, claims concerning ownership of the guesthouse and Rawal’s departure to London and alleged movement with a bodyguard appeared in more or less identical wording on at least four different pages.

The complainant said the pattern appeared to indicate that the matter was not limited to a few isolated social media users but could be part of an organised and coordinated online campaign.

The complaint asked the NCCIA to identify, through modern technical and forensic investigations, the individuals operating the accounts. It also expressed concern that the continued circulation of the alleged content could harm the reputation, mental peace and personal security of the complainant and his son.

The complainant urged the NCCIA to take immediate notice of the matter, initiate a formal inquiry and conduct an independent investigation.

It called for a forensic and technical audit of the social media accounts and pages, and sought IP logs, device and SIM registration data and information about the relevant users to trace the individuals operating the original accounts.

The latest summons marks the first reported action by the NCCIA against individuals identified in connection with Memon’s complaint. The four people have been directed to appear before the agency on August 13 and provide the requested documents, records and digital devices.
