Sindh Polio Virus progress was reported on June 28, is the most turning point for the region as 28 out of 29 environmental sample of this virus came negative which become the milestone for the health sector.

Health officials report a strong improvement in Pakistan anti-polio drive as environmental testing shows a sharp decline in poliovirus activity across Sindh.

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said authorities recorded the highest number of negative environmental samples since August 2023, marking a major shift in the province situation.

In Karachi Division, 11 out of 12 samples tested negative for the first time, showing a clear reduction in virus circulation. Meanwhile, officials confirmed that all 17 environmental samples from other divisions of Sindh also returned negative results.

In addition, health teams reported no active poliovirus circulation in Qambar and Kashmore after a long gap. They also confirmed that Badin and Mirpur Khas achieved negative results for the second consecutive month.

Moreover, Mustafa Kamal said the government fully used available resources to push forward eradication efforts. He added that the results of recent anti polio strategies now appear clearly in environmental data.

Furthermore, officials held two successful nationwide anti polio campaigns in 2026 and planned a special campaign in Karachi this July to strengthen coverage.

The minister stressed that the government continues to prioritize child protection and aims to eliminate polio completely from Pakistan through coordinated efforts with all stakeholders.
