Dharki: The engineers at Liberty Power Plant in Dharki, Sindh, have achieved a significant technological milestone by successfully converting a conventional diesel passenger bus into a fully electric vehicle, marking a pioneering development in Pakistan’s transport sector.

According to plant officials, the converted vehicle is the first diesel bus in Pakistan to be transformed into an electric bus.

The initiative reflects the country’s growing commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation solutions. By eliminating reliance on diesel fuel, the newly converted bus is expected to contribute to reduced carbon emissions and improved air quality.

Engineers involved in the project stated that this innovation represents a practical step toward a greener Pakistan.

They expressed optimism that similar electric buses could soon become part of the country’s public transport system, helping to curb environmental pollution and promote clean energy alternatives.

Described as modern and aesthetically designed, the electric bus is said to be comparable in quality and performance to vehicles produced by leading international bus manufacturers.

An inauguration ceremony for the electric bus will be held at Liberty Power Plant, where Chairman of AsiaPak Investments, Shaheryar Chishty, will formally launch the vehicle.

During the event, engineers who contributed to the project will also be awarded certificates of recognition for their achievement.

The development underscores the potential of local engineering expertise in advancing Pakistan’s transition toward sustainable transportation and green energy solutions.
