Lahore tops list of World’s most polluted cities

    World’s most polluted cities

Lahore has now risen to the top of the global pollution rankings, with Karachi following closely in fourth place. The air in Lahore is now classified as hazardous, while Karachi’s air quality remains a major concern.

Recent reports show that Lahore’s air contains 278 micrograms per cubic meter of particulate matter, a significant health risk.

Meanwhile, Karachi’s pollution levels are even worse, with 597 micrograms per cubic meter recorded.

Delhi ranks second on the list of the world’s most polluted cities.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is used to assess the level of pollution in the air:

    • AQI between 150 and 200 indicates moderate pollution,

    • AQI between 200 and 300 signals high pollution,

    • AQI over 300 represents dangerously high pollution levels.

As pollution continues to worsen in both Lahore and Karachi, residents face growing health risks, and urgent measures are needed to address this growing crisis.
