King Charles is reportedly hopeful that Prince Harry’s possible return to the UK could help heal the strained relationship between his two sons.
Sources told People that the king wants to see Prince William and Prince Harry together again. According to insiders, Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported plans to spend an extended period in Britain could provide an opportunity for the brothers to reconcile.
The reports come as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly preparing to move to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who are expected to start school there in September.
A source told the outlet, “He will want to see his sons together over time. This is the best opportunity we have seen in recent years.”
King Charles reportedly saw his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, for the first time in four years in July, which a source described as “a real positive.”
“The king would love to have Harry around,” the source added.
However, sources claimed that Prince William and Prince Harry remain out of contact, with little indication that the Prince of Wales is ready to repair their relationship.
“It is going to be challenging for William. It will be very hard for him and Catherine,” the source said.
The source added that there remains a “deep sense of betrayal” and said William and Kate have “suffered a lot,” referring to Kate’s recovery from cancer.
“They have been dutiful, doing what they do well and keeping the family together. Anything else, from their point of view, isn’t critical,” the source said.
