Karachi: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi continues to reel under a pronounced cold wave.

Brisk north-westerly winds funnel icy air into the metropolis, triggering a sharp dip in temperatures and amplifying wind chill across the city.

The minimum temperature plunged to 8.5°C on Saturday morning, while the perceived temperature dropped close to 5°C, making it one of the coldest starts to the season. Meteorologists attributed the sudden chill to dry continental air masses dominating the region.

PMD data shows yesterday’s maximum temperature peaked at 21.3°C, while today’s daytime high is forecast to hover between 20°C and 22°C. Relative humidity currently stands at 48 percent, with sustained winds of 12 kilometres per hour further intensifying the cold conditions.

Weather experts say the ongoing cold spell is expected to linger until January 28, keeping mornings and nights sharply cold. Skies are forecast to remain crystal clear, and no precipitation is anticipated, offering dry but frigid conditions.

Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions during early morning and late evening hours, as the cold surge continues to dominate Karachi’s weather outlook.
