Singer EJAE known for co-writing and performing the hit song “Golden” from the animated film “KPop Demon Hunters”, will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.

FIFA confirmed her participation ahead of the tournament kickoff match between Mexico and South Africa at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. She will join a star studded lineup for the official pre match show. The event is expected to draw global attention as excitement builds for the World Cup.

EJAE will also join legendary tenor Andrea Bocelli and other international artists to debut the official World Cup 2026 anthem titled “DNA.”

She shared that the opportunity is very meaningful to her. She also said it is a proud moment because she was able to include Korean lyrics in the song. She added that representing Korea on such a global stage is a great honor for her.

The singer also reflected on her childhood memory of the 2002 World Cup in Seoul. She said she still remembers how the city came together in celebration.

People from different backgrounds united in joy, and that feeling stayed with her. She explained that this sense of unity is what the World Cup represents for her.

FIFA stated that the anthem “DNA” highlights unity and togetherness. The 2026 tournament will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It will take place in 16 cities and will feature 48 teams, making it one of the largest World Cups in history.

K-pop will also play a major role in the tournament. In Los Angeles, BLACKPINK’s Lisa will headline the opening ceremony alongside global star Katy Perry. Lisa has also collaborated with Anitta and Rema on the track “Goals,” which is part of the official world cup soundtrack.

The World Cup final will introduce a new halftime show inspired by American football. BTS is expected to perform during the final in New Jersey on July 19. This marks the first time such a large scale entertainment show will be added to a world cup final.
