Justin Bieber's Coachella set pushes festival into $40K+ fines

Justin Bieber’s headlining performance at Coachella’s second weekend didn’t just electrify the crowd; it also cost Goldenvoice $20,000 fine.

Hailey Bieber’s husband ran two minutes past Indio’s strict 1:00 a.m. curfew.

His overrun was part of more than $40,000 in fines levied against the festival, which also included Anyma’s set the night before that stretched nine minutes past the cutoff and added another $24,000 to the tab.

The city of Indio has enforced curfew rules since Coachella’s inception in 1999.

The rule requires Friday and Saturday sets to end by 1:00 a.m. and Sunday shows to wrap by midnight.

Under the agreement, the festival is fined $20,000 for the first five minutes past curfew, with escalating penalties beyond that.

This year’s fines join a long history of curfew violations at the desert festival.

Paul McCartney famously went 54 minutes over in 2009, costing Goldenvoice $54,000.

More recently, Travis Scott’s three‑minute overrun in 2025 cost $20,000.

    Lana Del Rey’s 2024 set added $17,000.

In 2023 six performers including Bad Bunny, Frank Ocean and The Weeknd collectively racked up more than $168,000 in penalties.

Despite the fines, Coachella closed out its two weekends with star‑power performances from Sabrina Carpenter, Bieber and Karol G.

The Empire Polo Club will now transform for Goldenvoice’s country festival Stagecoach, running April 24–26 with Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson and Post Malone headlining.
