    • Maulana Fazlur Rehman has no issue with KP CM Gandapur: Qaiser.
    • Former NA speaker intends to speak directly to Imran Khan on issue.
    • JUI-F yet to take formal decision to join grand alliance, says spox.

ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has conveyed its conditions and reservations to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) about joining the opposition’s grand alliance, The News reported on Saturday.

The sources have said that the JUI-F’s leadership has apprised Asad Qaisar of conditions — some of which also pertain to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur — if it is to join the opposition’s alliance.

The development comes against the backdrop of expedited efforts by the Imran Khan-founded party to form a grand opposition alliance to launch an anti-government movement after Eid ul Fitr following his directives for PTI leaders to approach every political party to form a grand opposition alliance and launch an anti-government movement.

In April 2024, the PTI had already formed the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP), a multi-party opposition alliance comprising the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM)

After talks between the government and the opposition collapsed in January, the PTI made another push to establish a joint front against the ruling coalition by roping in ex-premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi earlier this month to become part of its movement.

With PTI Secretary Information Shaikh Waqas Akram noting that any decision on the reservations conveyed by the Fazl-led party would be made in light of Khan’s directives, former National Assembly speaker Qaiser has not reached out to CM Gandapur and aims to speak directly to te PTI founder on the issue — of JUI-F’s reservations concerning the firebrand leader.

Speaking to Geo News, Qaisar claimed that Fazl had no issue with the KP CM, saying that they were just waiting for Khan’s directions.

On JUI-F’s demand of an elections audit in Peshawar, Qaisar said that the PTI’s seats from the provincial capital were also snatched.

Meanwhile, JUI-F spokesman Aslam Ghori has reportedly said that the party leadership has yet to take any formal decision to join the grand alliance.

It is pertinent to know that speaking on Geo News programme ‘Naya Pakistan’ on Friday, the former NA speaker said that a delegation of the party will meet JUI-F by next week.
