According to Arab media, the Israeli government has formally announced the establishment of an investigative committee to examine the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, that is, Hamas’s entry into Israeli territory, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping 251 others.

Israeli citizens had been consistently demanding a state-level commission to conduct a transparent inquiry and determine the security failures that led to the incident.

According to the international media reports, the commission will not be a state body, but will have “full investigative powers,” and the government will ensure its composition enjoys the broadest possible public support. In a state commission, members are appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

However, in this case, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will appoint the ministerial committee that will determine the timeline and topics to be investigated. Precisely for this reason, the opposition’s reaction was swift.

Israeli Violations of Gaza Ceasefire Continue:

Despite an agreed ceasefire in Gaza, Israeli forces have continued to violate the truce. Arab media reports that an Israeli shooting incident in Gaza City resulted in the death of a Palestinian civilian.

One Palestinian Killed in West Bank Operation:

In the city of Tubas, located in the occupied West Bank, another Palestinian was killed by Israeli gunfire. Tensions in the area have reportedly intensified following the incident.

Israeli Tank Fires on UN Peacekeepers in Southern Lebanon:

Arab media has reported that a UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) patrol came under fire from an Israeli tank in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military stated that poor weather conditions caused the peacekeepers to be mistaken for a threat.

    Lebanese Army Condemns Attack:

The Lebanese Army strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a “dangerous provocation.” Military officials stated that attacking a United Nations peacekeeping force is a clear violation of international law and warned that such actions could further escalate tensions in the region.
