    • Imran Khan’s eye is almost normal after treatment, claims report.
    • Report includes 39 specialist check-ups since November 2023.
    • Imran and his wife meet every Tuesday under jail rules: report.

ISLAMABAD: Jailed former prime minister Imran Khan was treated by top ophthalmologists in the twin cities, with his affected eye having “almost regained normal vision”, claimed a medical report submitted to the Supreme Court on Monday.

The two-page report, submitted by the superintendent of Adiala jail, provided details about the former prime minister’s health and meetings at the prison.

Imran, 73, has remained in prison since August 2023 following convictions he and his party describe as politically motivated.

Since his ouster in April 2022 following a no-confidence vote, he has faced multiple legal cases, including allegations of state gifts and an unlawful marriage case.

While some convictions have been suspended or overturned, several appeals remain pending before higher courts. Imran and his party continue to deny all allegations of wrongdoing.

The jailed PTI founder was diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), a serious eye condition, according to a report submitted to the Supreme Court by his lawyer and the court’s amicus curiae, Salman Safdar, earlier this year.

The medical report, submitted before the SC today, said medical officers checked PTI founding chairman’s food and drinks three times a day and conducted his medical check-ups. It added that several government doctors examined him, with records of the consultations maintained by the jail authorities.

A summary of 39 check-ups by different medical specialists conducted between November 4, 2023 and August 10, 2026 was also included in the report.

According to the report, Imran had received treatment from top ophthalmologists of the twin cities — Islamabad and Rawalpindi — for his eye condition and one of his eyes had almost returned to normal.

The report said the former prime minister and his wife had been meeting every Tuesday under jail rules, with 84 meetings held so far.

It added that lawyer Salman Safdar had met former premier Khan on February 10 and April 4, 2026.

The jail superintendent’s report also referred to an assurance given by Salman Akram Raja before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that he would not speak to the media inside the jail premises after meeting PTI founding chairman.

The report said the court order was violated when media talks were held after meetings.

It further alleged that public sentiment against the judiciary, foreign policy and law enforcement agencies was being stirred through meetings at the jail.

A three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Shahid Waheed is scheduled to hear the case concerning Imran Khan’s health and meetings on Tuesday.
