Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Friday unveiled an ambitious digital transformation drive featuring the passport mobile app, home delivery and QR code-based payments to make services faster, more transparent and free from illegal practices.

While speaking to a media outlet, the DG said the passport mobile app would enable citizens to apply for and renew passports online, track applications and access essential services from their mobile phones with ease.

He said the department is also working to launch a home delivery facility so applicants can receive their passports at their doorstep, reducing the need for repeated visits to passport offices.

Randhawa added that a QR code-based digital payment system would soon be introduced to ensure secure and transparent transactions while helping eliminate illegal practices and middlemen.

He said these reforms are being implemented under the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi with the aim of modernising passport services and improving public convenience nationwide.

The Director general emphasised that the digital transformation initiative reflects the government’s commitment to efficient, citizen-friendly governance by using technology to deliver faster and more reliable services.

He concluded by saying that the digital reforms are designed to build a transparent, efficient, and citizen-focused passport system where corruption, middlemen and illegal practices have no place, ensuring every applicant receives services fairly and securely.
