Facebook has introduced new features powered by Meta AI aimed at making it easier and more enjoyable for users to express themselves through Feed posts, Stories, images, and profile pictures.

With the new update, users can now animate their profile pictures, turning a static image into an animated version within seconds. Different preset animation styles such as natural movement, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart effects are available, allowing users to match their mood. Meta said more animation options will be added throughout the year for special occasions and seasonal events.

For better results, the app recommends using a clear image of a single person facing the camera without any objects in hand. Users can choose photos from their camera roll or previously posted images, and the animated version can be displayed on their profile or shared to the Feed.

The Restyle feature allows users to change the look of their images in Facebook Stories and Memories using ready-made styles or custom AI prompts. Facebook also suggests Memories with Restyle options so that older moments can stand out.

Users can select styles such as anime or illustrated effects, choose different moods, lighting effects, colors, or backgrounds like beaches or cityscapes. Meta AI can also be used to modify images according to personal preferences.

In addition, Facebook is introducing animated backgrounds for text posts to make them more engaging. When creating a text post, users can tap the rainbow “A” icon to select from various still or animated backgrounds, including themes like falling leaves or ocean waves.

Meta said seasonal backgrounds will also be added in the future to make posts feel more timely and festive. The company stated that these features are designed to help users express themselves in more creative and interactive ways while making content more engaging for friends and followers.
