The Sindh government has introduced a major relief initiative for motorcycle owners, providing Rs2,000 per registered bike as petrol subsidy.

The move comes after a recent sharp fuel price surge across Pakistan, with petrol jumping to Rs458.41 per litre and high-speed diesel rising to Rs520.35, significantly affecting daily commuters and transport costs nationwide.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah described bikers as one of the most affected groups amid soaring global fuel prices caused by the US-Israel war on Iran.

In a press conference today, he said that Sindh alone has around 6.7 million registered motorcycles, highlighting the scale of the relief effort and its potential impact on citizens.

To ensure timely delivery of the petrol subsidy, motorcycle owners must follow a clear registration and verification procedure. The chief minister outlined the steps during his press briefing:

    • Owners must register their motorcycles using the Excise Department’s digital application, providing accurate CNIC and bank account details.
    • Citizens should ensure their motorcycles are registered in their own names within a 15-day window to qualify for the subsidy.
    • Motorcycle ownership transfers will be free of cost for 15 days, allowing rightful beneficiaries to access the support.
    • Payments will be directly transferred to verified accounts of registered owners, expected between April 15 and 20, totaling Rs2,000 per bike.
