Health Minister announce digitalization of Pakistan Nursing Council
ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal announced on Monday that the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC) will be fully digitalized to enhance its work efficiency, transparency, and merit-based approach.
Chairing a key meeting on the Council’s affairs, also attended by the Federal Health Secretary and Additional Secretary, the Minister said all PNC operations will soon be computerized to reduce human involvement and cut down on inefficiencies.
“We will restore the credibility of the nursing profession and turn the Pakistan Nursing Council into a modern, effective, and internationally recognized body,” he said.
Mustafa Kamal highlighted the serious shortage of nurses in the country, noting that Pakistan requires approximately 900,000 more nurses, while the global shortfall is nearly 2.5 million. He stressed that nursing is a vital pillar of the health system and reforms are essential to strengthen the sector.
The Minister said the government is committed to introducing modern policies, digital systems, and merit-based practices to bring the nursing profession up to international standards.
He assured that reforms will continue with a strong focus on transparency, merit, and modernization, so that Pakistan’s nursing workforce can better serve both at home and abroad while ensuring quality healthcare for all.
