Big Brother 28 houseguest Haley Thogmartin is opening up about her explosive falling-out with fellow contestant Angela Murray, saying she still holds no lasting resentment despite the intensity of their blowup.
The conflict stemmed from a vote flip during Thogmartin’s Head of Household reign, when an 8-3 vote unexpectedly evicted Lyric Medeiros instead of the planned target, Melody Morris.
While Thogmartin’s core allies had stuck to the original plan, Dee Valladares and Murray had lied about their votes, leaving Thogmartin blindsided and her alliance in disarray.
Murray, wracked with guilt, eventually confessed the truth to Thogmartin, but the moment quickly escalated into a heated, expletive-filled confrontation intense enough that production briefly cut the live feeds.
What upset Thogmartin most, she said, wasn’t the vote itself but a specific line Murray used during the fight, referencing her parents.
Despite the blowup, Thogmartin said she never wanted to escalate things further in the moment.
“I mean, I hated seeing her that upset. Again, she was my absolute glue. She was my rock there, and I knew it was heating up. But at that point, you had a lot of people talking,” she said.
“So when she said the words that she did, I just sat there. I didn’t want to escalate it more. I wanted to talk to her in private. I just wanted to give it a couple days because that was really heated. But I love her to death. I still love her… it was upsetting how that happened, but I think she’s an incredible person.”
Thogmartin, 29, was eventually eliminated from the game after a surprise “medieval” twist flipped over the house dynamics, ending what had otherwise been a rocky, up-and-down run in the competition.
In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly following her exit, she took ownership of her own conduct during the tense period in the house, acknowledging some of what she’d said in the heat of the moment.
“I have seen a couple things online. Obviously, I’m not proud of some of the things I said. I’m really regretful about a couple things and I obviously own all of it, you know?” she said.
“You’re in a high-pressure stakes situation, emotionally, mentally, physically, twenty-four-seven. And so I think it got the best of me for a couple moments and I own all of that.”
