Government cuts jet fuel price by Rs7.15 per litre

The federal government on Saturday reduced the price of jet fuel by Rs7.15 per litre, giving relief to the aviation sector by lowering aircraft fuel costs.

After the latest change, jet fuel is now priced at Rs231.72 per litre.

This cut is expected to reduce operating costs for airlines, as fuel is a major part of their expenses. Industry experts say it may improve airline efficiency, but there is no announcement yet about lower airfares.

Even after the reduction, jet fuel prices are still much higher than before the conflict in the Middle East. Earlier, jet fuel was about Rs188 per litre before regional tensions increased.

The price change comes due to ongoing fluctuations in global oil markets, where petroleum prices keep changing based on supply and demand.

Earlier, the government also reduced kerosene oil by Rs6.85 per litre, according to OGRA.

Kerosene oil is now priced at Rs227.05 per litre, and the new rate is effective immediately.

The notification said the price was reduced after reviewing global oil market changes and recommendations from authorities.

The government said fuel prices are regularly reviewed based on international market trends, import costs, and taxes.

Petrol and high-speed diesel prices have been kept unchanged for the coming week. Petrol will stay at Rs299.50 per litre, and diesel will remain at Rs311.47 per litre.

However, petroleum levy charges on petrol and diesel have been increased. The Petroleum Division said the levy on diesel has been raised by Rs6.57 per litre, making it Rs79.54 per litre in total.

The levy on petrol has also increased by Rs0.39 per litre, now reaching Rs66.64 per litre.

The petroleum levy on kerosene oil remains the same at Rs20.36 per litre.
